Mayor Bill de Blasio was one of the strongest supporters of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign. The latest revelations show that he also was involved with the Clinton Foundation’s playbook of “pay-to-play” scandals.
His nonprofit political fundraising organisation, Campaign for One New York promoted the mayor’s progressive agenda and was almost an equivalent to the Clinton Foundation, in fact it was just another way for thousands of donors to line de Blasio’s pockets with millions of dollars with his “pay-to-play” scandals.
Two separate grand juries in Manhattan, one federal and one state, are investigating testimonies by city officials relating to criminal investigations into Democratic New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, and it seems they are getting closer to an indictment against some of his closest aides, including Emma Wolfe and Ross Offinger, reports Joe For America.
The state inquiry is being conducted by Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr.
The federal investigation investigates whether de Blasio or his aides conducted political favours for donors in exchange for contributions for his mayoral campaign in 2013.
It is expected that Mayor de Blasio, like Clinton, will claim that “he did nothing wrong” and that the Campaign for One New York (CONY) was set up in “the best interests of all New Yorkers”. Too bad no one will believe him.
Almost all the money that flowed out of the Campaign for One New York went to consulting firms such as BerlinRosen, Hilltop Public Solutions and AKPD Message and Media. However, these consultancies are run by the men whom the mayor notoriously designated “agents of the city,” retroactively shielding their communications with his office from public scrutiny.
With Donald Trump winning the election, Hillary Clinton’s ‘pay-to-play’ corruption is finally coming to an end. It looks like New Yorkers will feel the same relief soon with Mayor de Blasio’s indictment.
